Hi there!  I'm Dana Anselmo, an Event Coordinator with Boston Uncorked, and I am thrilled to be able to welcome you to our organization.  What is an Event Coordinator and how did I get here?  Well, here's a little background information...

Although I had experienced wine on several occasions, it was not until I took a wine class at the Boston Center for Adult Education in 2001 with two friends that my interest was finally piqued.  Was I hearing correctly?  Could it really be possible that the instructor's wine had hints of lychee fruit in it?  I love lychee fruit but would I taste it as I sipped the wine?  I did, in fact, taste lychee fruit, though had the instructor not pointed that out first, it certainly would not have been my first thought. 

That class exposed me to a variety of tastes and a different way of thinking about and drinking wine.  As a result, I learned that I could take risks  with regard to how I was describing wine  and that those descriptions might not be so outrageous.  As they say, the rest is history!

I came across Boston Uncorked in the same fashion that many of you did; I was looking for a group that consisted of a variety of people with an interest in wine, learning about and sampling wine and sharing wine experiences.  After being a member of Boston Uncorked for over a year, having attended over a dozen events and having greatly expanded both my knowledge and my wine collection, the co-founders approached me about becoming more involved with the organization -- specifically with event planning. 

How could I say no?!  In addition to continuing  to attend all of the Boston Uncorked events and continue my wine education, I would be able to learn how the organization is run and have  an active roll in planning and designing all of the fun events...I saw it as a win-win.  So, here I am!

Through my involvement with Boston Uncorked, I hope to be able to share with all of you what I have learned and hear from each of you what you have learned.  I look forward to seeing you all at our events.  In the meantime I invite you to email me here.
