BOARD OF MANAGERS
Welcome to Boston Uncorked! My hope is that you enjoy yourself as much as I have for the past two years. I have been a Member of Uncorked since its inception in 2005. The quality of the events, as well as the friendly and down-to-earth leadership, gave me a desire to become more involved with the organization. Now I am an Event Coordinator, helping to generate fresh ideas for future events as well as planning them.
My love for wine came only a few years ago as a result of my passion for food. When dining out I like to order a glass or bottle of wine. In time I wanted to understand and learn more about the wines I was enjoying, along with others that I had not yet tasted. I began with whites, convinced that I would by no means order or buy red wines, as I could never find one that I liked. They were too tannic or dry for my tastes.
Boy, how things have changed! With encouragement from friends, I began trying more reds and to my surprise, some I really enjoyed! Now some of my favorite wines are red, such as Pinot Noir, Shiraz and Zinfandel. I still adore my Rieslings, though.
Whenever I travel I make a point to research vineyards in the area. This quest has led me to sample wines in Napa, Sonoma, Oregon, Washtington State, Upstate New York and Italy. My hope is that one day I will make it to South Africa.
Boston Uncorked has led me to find and learn about wines that I would have otherwise not tried. Besides discovering new wines, the events are a great way to meet and interact with a diverse group of people and maybe even encounter a new restaurant.
