Boston Uncorked Wines Up at its 2nd Anniversary; New Tastings in 2007 Promise a Taste for Every Palate
Boston Uncorked http://www.bostonuncorked.com/ commemorated its highly successful first two years, which encompassed hosting 30 sell-out wine tasting events as well as reaching the 2,000-member milestone, by hosting a celebration wine tasting. More wine, people, enlightenment, and fun are coming from Boston Uncorked in 2007.
Boston, MA (PRWEB) May 23, 2007 -- Boston Uncorked, Greater Boston's most exciting and avant-garde source for fun and educational insight about the world of wine, recently hosted 150 fellow wine enthusiasts for a celebration of its 2nd anniversary, featuring both old and new-world wines from Portugal, Italy, Chile, New Zealand and California.
The 2nd anniversary tasting celebrated two straight years of unwavering, exciting membership growth and interest, marked by monthly sell-out wine events and attracting over 2,000 opt-in members, and was the springboard for forthcoming Boston Uncorked wine tasting experiences this year and beyond. Boston Uncorked tasting events planned for 2007 include a Mediterranean wine walk-around affair; a multi-course sit-down dinner and wine pairing, which is part of the Wine 101 / 201 / 301 education series; the third annual Summer Solstice outdoor roof deck wine soirée on the first day of summer; a tasting that'll pair seafood with red wine; and an annual New England vineyard fall harvest excursion.
"When we announced ticket sales for our very first tasting event we sold out in ten days with 120 people attending," says Rob Hill, co-founder and president. "We were absolutely amazed and thrilled by the interest in wine in Boston, and the enthusiasm for Boston Uncorked wine events keeps growing. It has been an incredibly fun two years, and we feel like we're just getting started."
Launched in March 2005 by five Boston wine enthusiasts, Boston Uncorked is a wine tasting club / organization that refutes the notion that wine is pretentious and keeps its glasses angled toward accessibility. Boston Uncorked hosts wine experiences in and around Boston, with programs including walk-around tastings, sit-down dinners, educational forums, and vineyard trips. The core idea was to create an active association of adults with an interest in tasting and expanding their knowledge of wine in a warm, friendly, social environment. Each event is designed to provide participants the opportunity to explore a collection of wines and share their knowledge and/or curiosity in a manner intended to enrich everyone in some way.
Kristin Esterbrook, among the initial members to join Boston Uncorked's email list, has attended multiple events and shares insight into the myriad reasons why these gatherings are so popular. "I have an opportunity to experience a diversity of wines and grapes from different countries that I would not likely ever taste on my own, and I can then buy at a wine shop, or order at a restaurant, various wines with confidence because I know I like them," says Kristin. "I also like the social aspect of it and that I am having fun while learning about and discovering wines. It's really all about the experience."
"We look forward to creating even more innovative opportunities to foster the interest of wine enthusiasts at every level," says Hill. "We are so proud that Boston Uncorked has become a direct conduit to existing and new wine consumers. There are so many wines out there it can be overwhelming, and Boston Uncorked provides consumers an attractive context in which to enjoy and discover wines, while providing suppliers a forum in which to come in direct contact with consumers. It's a win-win."
