Screw caps. Are they the height of irreverence to all things wine, or the height of technology for the good of wine?
Actually, they are good for the wine in terms of keeping oxygen, which spoils the wine, out of the bottle. And contrary to what you might think, some really terrific wines now come in screw cap bottles!
Good wine in screw cap bottles?? Indeed. It's a perception thing, and perception is a huge marketing factor. (Hey, what did you perceive "Unscrew Your Valentine" was about?). This is why both natural and synthetic corks are still the prevailing wine bottle closures.
Old and current consumer perceptions of screw capped wines usually aren't
flattering, so in Boston Uncorked style we are going to have fun helping you to taste-away any ill-perceptions you may have. This is all about proving that there are some absolutely great quality, fabulous tasting wines on the market that come in screw cap bottles. Plain and simple!
And in a tip of the glass to Valentine's Day, we say come single or coupled, but do join us as we return to the elegant, warm and inviting ambience of the Grand Room at The College Club of Boston in Back Bay for this large walk-around tasting. Scrumptious hors d'oeuvres will be served to accompany the evening's wine selections, all of which are listed on The Cork Board.
When it comes to experiencing these wines, don't go it alone and potentially screw it up. Do it the Boston Uncorked way and...
